【 香港大學學生會就本校學生於中國被無理扣押之聲明 | The Hong Kong University Students’ Union’s Statement on HKU Students Being Unreasonbly Detained in China 】

本會得悉有港大學生於西藏被中國公安扣押，就此本會已與相關同學之家屬及校方聯絡並盡力提供一切支援，並將會以同學的安全作首要考慮。

始於反送中運動，港人過境時被無理扣查己絕非鮮聞。港大不少課程亦強制學生前往中國境內完成課業需求，惟校方罔顧學生安全，從未採取任何應變及支援措施。近日更有同學於過境時遭中國邊境人員無理扣查，不但被要求解鎖手機及個人電腦供該人員檢查，甚或清空個別資料，此等嚴重侵害個人私隱。

港大近年過份側重於中國發展，而近日事件已嚴重危害港大同學之人身安全。校方首要職責為保護學生，絕無推搪迴避之空間。本會現強烈要求校方立即取消所有於中國境内進行之強制性課業或實習活動，並提供替代方案予同學完成課程要求。

The Union has been informed that several HKU students are being detained by Chinese Public Security. The Union is currently in contact with their families and University authorities. The Union will offer every possible assistance in securing their safety.

The Union has also received complaints from Full Members that during trips to China for compulsory learning activities, they were forced to unlock their mobile devices, which were subsequently subjected to scrutinization by Chinese authorities.

Since the beginning of the Anti Extradition Law Movement, there have been a lot of cases of Hongkongers being unreasonably detained by Chinese Customs. The shameful acts of the totalitarian regime has now been threatening the safety of HKU students.The University regrettably has yet to implement any measure to safeguard HKU students, putting their safety at considerable jeopardy.

The University has been increasingly inclining to China in recent years. It is of paramount importance for the University to act responsibly and protect our students by taking prompt actions. The Union hereby strongly demands the University authorities to cancel all compulsory learning activities in China, and to provide alternatives for completing the curriculum requirements.
